Is your email letting you down?

You may not know it but your email address could be letting you down big time by getting you rejected from the job of your dreams.

Well all probably have a funny or cheeky email address which we use and it doesn’t seem a problem when emailing friends or entering your details on to online shops, yet this email address could be stopping you from getting that new job, especially now in a highly competitive jobs market.

If you don’t think there is anything wrong with your address try putting yourself in the place of your prospective employer. They have just used a recruitment services company to advertise a position and have been inundated with highly qualified applicants. When it come to whittling down these applicants to chose those to interview who do you think they will prefer, someone with a straight forward professional email address of the first and last name, or someone who has a cheeky email address which mentions the size of his package. Most employers are of course going to choose the former candidate, even if you might well be far better in the interviews.

So to avoid this situation it well worth creating a new email address made up of your first and last name to place of your CV and job applications, this way you might just get that slim advantage over other candidates which could help you clinch that job.
