Single Life
When you leave school and start working, you realize how much harder it is to meet new people. It’s not just a matter of not having enough time; it’s often also a matter of your standards changing. Modern life is just not compatible with the kind of dating that you see in movies or in, god forbid, shows like Sex and the City, where dating is glamorous and, even if not always successful, easy.
Personally, I prefer when I first make friends and then they evolve to something else. But in dating, there’s pressure to jump a lot of hoops very quickly, and I’m just not comfortable with that. Call me weird, but I need more than a couple of hours to get to know someone.
That’s why I honestly enjoy dating websites. Just the fact that I can narrow down the people I’ll potentially date according to their interests and their goals is a plus for me. And then you can actually speak to them without the pressure of dating. You can arrange meetings of a lot of people, coffee dates, movie dates, or just speak online in chat rooms or by email.
