Getting there is Half the Fun
Whenever possible it is nice to plan a vacation well in advance. When the ability to plan is not present, a holiday can get out of synch in a hurry. There are no guarantees when it comes to life so planning a vacation gives us something to look forward to. Having a celebrated event on the horizon is often enough to get us over the hump at work. By focusing on the pending leisure time, we take our minds and our eyes off the immediate presence of work and other responsibilities.
The idea behind planning is to accommodate the need for coverage in our busy lives. Maybe a dog sitter is needed for the time you’ll be away, or perhaps there are elderly parents that will require a look-in while you are out of town. Finishing up last minute projects at work is often a pre-vacation ritual. The feeling of leaving home with everything taken care of elevates the enjoyment potential of the trip.
Sometimes planning is not possible, so a last minute approach is employed. Late holidays often provide a stimulating alternative to the regular pre-planned outing. By maintaining a flexible and spontaneous attitude, travelers are often able to destinations that would not usually draw them in the traditional sense.
