Volunteer at a Disaster Site
There are many callings in life, and one of the most noble is in the pursuit of aiding fellow humans. There are conditions that arise constantly that require a helping hand from another mate. Natural disasters of various sorts occur each year. Prolonged rainfall has been the source of many disasters including flooding and mudslides. We have all seen the video footage of blokes muddling about in their wellies helping to reign in a disastrous occurrence. It is possible and admirable to be one of those individuals. Various large organizations like the Red Cross exist for the purpose of providing humanitarian aid to those who have been impacted by a catastrophic occurrence. These organizations are continually recruiting for individuals willing to step-up in the event of an emergency. By placing yourself on their roles you are vowing to stand at the ready to be of service in the event of a calamity.
Some disasters are water related and provide a seeping and infiltrating threat to homeowners in the affected region. Sandbag crews are operated in the old fire brigade style of passing bags in an efficient manner across men and women standing shoulder to shoulder. The bags are often used to fortify effected areas against further water infiltration. Through the hard work and determination of volunteers, the burden is deflected from those who are suffering from property and sometimes human loss. The resulting accomplishments serve to reinvigorate the volunteers who are able to witness the value of their work firsthand.
